Oakville Hospital Foundation Hosts Chamber of Commerce Event - A Great Success!
2009-01-23
More than 100 community members joined the Foundation as we hosted the Oakville Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours event on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at the Holiday Inn–Oakville Centre. Attending and representing the Oakville Hospital Foundation (OHF) and Halton Healthcare Services (HHS) were: Mags Shorey, OHF Board Chair; Bill Cooper, New Oakville Hospital Campaign Co-Chair; John Piper, OHF Board Member; Pam Bishop, OHF Board Member; Don Pangman, New Oakville Hospital Campaign Advisory Council Member; Mary Davies, HHS Board Chair; John Fleming, HHS Board Member; Bill Bailey, Vice-President Redevelopment for HHS, Allen Wightman, OHF CEO, along with Foundation staff.

Bill Cooper, a Chamber member for ten years, addressed the membership and spoke about the vital need for a new hospital in Oakville, how OTMH has served the healthcare needs of our community for almost 60 years and role of the Foundation by embarking on a $60 million Capital Campaign in the near future.

“This is not just another Capital Campaign,” said Bill Cooper, “But an investment in our future as a community, the future of our children, our grandchildren and future generations. As such, it is our responsibility as business leaders to maximize this investment, so that our hospital has vital medical equipment when it’s needed.”

To date, community members have pledged more than $2 million toward the Campaign, funding medical equipment for the New Oakville Hospital, which will be located on a 50-acre site at Third Line and Dundas Street.

The Foundation extends its sincere thanks to Aby Alameddine, Board Chair, and John Sawyer, President of the Oakville Chamber of Commerce for their support and providing the opportunity for the Foundation to communicate the needs of the Oakville Hospital to the Chamber membership.
